October 6, 2011. A person died, thousands of people were sad. Steve Jobs died. He was the founder of Apple, entrepreneur, engineer, innovator, and one of the most influential people in our era. We just lost a creative genius who changed the world with his innovations.

What’s so special about him anyway?

He was named as one of the powerful people (#17) from Forbes. Well, most people would know if they’re asked “Who’s Steve Jobs?”, and especially about his masterpiece, Apple company. Who doesn’t listen to iPods or have iPad or MacBook or other iDevices that it produced?

As a young man, Steve started to work on creating a new computer with his friend, Steve Wozniak, which will be known as Apple computer. Steve was actually dropped out from college for some reasons. But he weren’t just sitting around and doing nothing, he created devices that we know today as some of the finest innovations.

What else that we can learn from Steve Jobs?

1. Design define his brand
Who doesn’t like Apple products? With its sophisticated yet simple designs, Apple is known especially in the designer community. He really can show that ‘less is more’.

2. Leadership
His role as the CEO of Apple has inspired a lot of people. Even his employees are very grateful to have a CEO like Steve Jobs. He always pays attention to the details, eventhough he’s running a very big company.

Remembered by all of his employees, and customers

3. Innovative
We can say that he is Edison of our time :) His works are very innovative, and indeed, he’s one of the best innovators of this decade.

4. Passionate
He did his work with full of passions. On his commencement address, he even said this:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

5. Have Values
He is not the type of billionaire who is captured as philanthropist building a foundation and publicly shows the act of charity. Steve is a very humble person. He actually created so many impacts through his innovative products. He collaborated with JOINRED.com and created limited Apple product RED to help fight AIDS in Africa. Besides, most of the devices he created have really changed the way people live. Not to forget to mention his other works, Pixar, also created many great films for everyone.

Hope we all can learn from a big man of history, and create our own values based on our own path!

Anyway, Steve Jobs has inspired me so much in the past years, so I also wrote a blog post about him in my personal blog.
